'Madhushala' in English

While translating a poetry, it is the duty of the translator to preserve and keep intact all the various and unique characteristics of poetry, so that a poetic "CLONE" is developed that does 100% justice to the work of its original creator. (Please do check the real essence of the poetry in Hindi and compare it with the translation in English, pl. also compare the rhyme, the rhythm and the relevance to get the real flavour of Dr. Harivanshrai's "MADHUSHALA").

Without a pause, you just repeat,
Wine and wine, intoxicating all,
Hold in hand and begin to feel,
The fine imaginary glass wall,
In your mind, you just surmise,
                            The sweet solacing barmaid,
Walk-on traveler, there she stands,
Not quite too far, the BAR HALL.

[ 9 ]

When the desire to take a drink,
Becomes, itself, the wine all,
When, in the yearning of the lips,
There reflects the glass all,
                            When in thoughts, you fantasize,
                            And there appears the barmaid,
Wine, glass, the barmaid may vanish,

You’ll  find  for sure, the BAR HALL.
